City of Newcastle RSL Sub Branch Donation
On the 28th June CHSLSC received a cheque for $25,000 for the purchase of a new IRB, motor and trailer, Competition Interceptor dual racing ski, nipper beach tent / shelters and junior kracka boards for our many club nippers.
On behalf of the Cook's Hill Surf Club we thank the City of Newcastle RSL Sub Branch for their generous support and look forward to building that relationship in the years to come. An official naming and launch of the IRB will be held at the beginning of the clubs Centenary season (watch the website for further details).
The committee would also like to thank the support and assistance of Mark Minell with the coordination of this sponsorship.

Cook's Hill's reponse to the Coastal Management Plan
The Management Committee of Cook's Hill Life Saving and Surf Club (Surf Club) has examined the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan with interest, in particular the part that deals with Bar Beach. The Management Committee of the Surf Club endorses the broad concept of the Plan on the grounds that it provides a vision for improvements to the beach and surrounding areas of Newcastle. Cook's Hill S.L.S.C. Inc. Constitution
The Constitution will be put to a vote at the AGM on 4 July 2010.
The By-Laws can be changed/updated by the agreement of a 2/3 majority of the Club Management Committee. The new management structure of the Club is shown in Section 2, along with the Management Committee Positions, the Executive, and relevant Sub Committees. 2011 Centenerary
To mark the Club centenerary occurring in 2011 the Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Newcastle, Professor John Ramsland, has accepted appointment as Club Historian and is writing a book on the first 100 years.
Professor Ramsland has had access to Club records held in the Local History Section of the Newcastle Library which date back to the original minute book used on foundation.
Professor Ramsland now seeks the assistance of Club members to provide oral history of recent years and any records etcetera which people may hold. The detail of the Professor's request is below.
1 . Members and ex members to lend author personal press clippings of collections; photograph albums (clearly marked with NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER for return delivery).
2. Members and ex members prepared to be interviewed : NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER; BEST TIME TO CONTACT AND TO VISIT during the week day/evening Reminiscences of experiences, events, activities in surf Club/ Memoirs or summaries of surfing careers (don't be modest) competition wins and administrative posts; length of time as active member. How YOU became interested in surf lifesaving. Where you lived, school attended, etc etc. Can be handwritten or typed
